SHITTY MOVIE CLUB?
Shitty Movie Club loves and celebrates movies and foments a sense of community around them.
We miss getting together with friends, hanging, laughing, watch movies.
We miss the sense of discovery at the rental store sifting through VHS covers.
We miss when that friend that would bring over a DVD and make us watch it.
They’re not 'so bad it's good', they’re joyous time capsules and we revel in admiration for those braver than
that give it all to create timeless art, hearts on sleeve and guts on the floor, shooting for the stars and landing in the gutter.

FORMAT
A typical screening involves:
Doors: Hangs + Drinks / fringe ephemera playing in the background
Voting: Selected Clips play from potential movies / audience picks
Short Break / Hangs + Drinks
Showreel: Curated Clips of rare movies/trailers/ads/random videos matching theme of the movie/city/event
Movie: with custom elements that can include commentary from hosts, drinking games, popup or interactive performances, interstitial themed clips, digital bingo, themed snacks, onscreen text chat from audience
Post-Credits: Hangs + Drinks

“Filmed” (mostly edited) in 2020 at the height of the pandemic whilst the gang were spread out over the world, when we were hosting almost weekly screenings over Zoom. With too much time on our hands, founding members Jon Steinmeier (in LA) of Fire Leopard composed and recorded the song and Shadie (in Vietnam) edited it. The transcontinental high-five was a highlight.
